Welcome to the FSD79 Public Relations Department. This department works to publicize the mission and goals of the District as it seeks to promote the whole-child development of students and the outstanding work of its teachers.
Our objective is to establish internal and external communication systems with the specific goal of creating open, two-way communication between the Board of Education, administration, staff, students, parents, and the Fremont School District 79 community.
The Public Relations department is responsible for developing a communications plan for the District, which outlines duties and responsibilities, as well as areas of focus for the current school year and beyond. The communications plan for the 2022-23 school year can be found here.
The office disseminates District communications via a variety of resources. The Public Relations Department manages the District’s website (fsd79.org), maintaining up-to-date information for external and internal constituents. Parent communications are emailed via TeacherEase as well as the Blackboard platform. Blackboard also is utilized to alert families and staff via email, text message, and robocall in the event of an emergency. Social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube are utilized to share news, photos, and videos of noteworthy items and events in and around the District in order to tell our story.
When working with the media, the Public Relations department serves as the District’s point of contact in the event of an inquiry with the goal of fostering open and transparent communication. The office also is responsible for assisting to foster connections between the school system, community organizations, and the communities of Grayslake, Hawthorn Woods, Libertyville, Long Grove, Mundelein, Round Lake, and Wauconda.
