Educational Long-Range Facility Planning
Fremont School District 79 is in the process of developing of an education-based Educational Long-range Facility Plan (ELFP) that encompasses enrollment forecasting, facility and systems assessments, grounds, traffic management, as well as other community-based considerations. This extensive process will take approximately one year to complete. A variety of stakeholders will have a voice to provide feedback and direction.
FSD79 has assembled a community-based Steering Committee that is meeting monthly to make intermediate determinations and provide input to the District's architectural firm, DLR Group. Representing members with diverse experience and roles, the Steering Committee consists of Central Office administrators, board members, principals, teachers, parents, and community members.
The end product of the committee’s work will be a recommended 10-year facility plan that will be presented to the Board for approval in Fall 2024.
Community input will be vital throughout our planning process. In the spring of 2024, our community members were asked to complete a survey to capture your priorities.
An overview of Steering Committee work includes the following:
- Review staff survey results and initial community input
- Review of current state of the District, including facility conditions, educational adequacy, and enrollment and capacity
- Develop facility planning priorities and goals
- Align priorities with needed space, review application of guiding principles and enrollment to building space
- Inform various plans and scenarios

On October 28, 2024, FSD79's financial consultants, PMA, provided an overview presentation on school finances to the Village of Mundelein Board of Trustees to provide a greater understanding of funding in regard to major projects. Click here to watch video of the presentation.
