Educational Long-Range Facility Plan

As part of our Strategic Plan, Fremont School District 79 has developed an Educational Long-Range Facility Plan (At-A-Glance version). The 20-year plan, which was approved by our Board of Education at its December 16, 2024, meeting, will provide the District with a dynamic roadmap as we chart the course for the future of our facilities.

The plan was developed throughout the 2024 calendar by our Steering Committee, comprised of parents, community members, teachers, board members, and administrators alongside our architectural partners, DLR Group. It is representative of the community’s priorities and feedback.

The plan accounts for each of the following items:

Enrollment Growth
• 1,000 additional students over the next 20-25 years

Educational Priorities
• STEM/Career Technical Education (CTE) & collaborative/social-emotional learning space
• Outdoor learning & athletic use
• Return preschool to campus

Facility Assessment
• Maintenance & Repair

Highlights of the first phase (2024-2029) of the plan include:
• Reconstruction of Elementary & Intermediate School front parking/Bus & Car Access
• Fire/Car Lane Road Around Back of Elementary & Intermediate Schools
• Limited Access Right-in/Right-out South Entrance & Exit
• Elementary School Stormwater Management
• Renovation of Transportation Building & Grounds
• Incorporation of Municipal Water and Sewer
• STEM/Cafeteria Addition & Drama Renovation at Middle School
• Priority Levels 1 & 2 Facility Assessment Items (all schools)
• Enhanced Secure Vestibules (all schools)

We anticipate building a new middle school building for grades 6-8 within the first 10 years of the plan. We have no imminent plans for a referendum, as we intend to exhaust all other funding sources first, including developer impact fees/donations, grants, and partnerships.
