2023-2027 Strategic Plan

The 2023-2027 Fremont School District 79 Strategic Plan received unanimous approval by the Board of Education at its June 26, 2023 regular meeting.

The four-year plan is the result of a comprehensive community-involved process that was developed throughout the 2022-2023 school year. District administrators collaborated for over 70 hours with 450 parents, students, staff, and community members via a series of focus groups, culminating in a community-wide survey that garnered over 1,000 responses.

This Plan reflects the vision and priorities of the Fremont community. It also embeds educational best practice to level-up the District’s efforts to ensure all children grow and achieve - academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Strategic Plan serves as a roadmap to advance our ambitious shared vision, “empowering the next generation of resilient lifelong learners, responsible citizens and courageous leaders.”

We have identified four strategic goal areas in which to focus our efforts:

  • Safe, Healthy & Connected Culture
  • Growth & Achievement for All
  • Talent Recruitment & Development
  • Financial & Facility Stewardship

The Board of Education and Administration will collaboratively create annual action plans to advance the goal areas and objectives. This dynamic process is responsive to the ever-changing context and needs of students, staff and the community. The annual goals will embed intended products and metrics, ensuring strong accountability and support for our work.

Strategic Plan Year 1 Highlights

Fremont Feature

In concert with the implementation of our 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, FSD79 has created the “Fremont Feature” video series, giving our Fremont community a firsthand view of the District’s strategic work. Much of what happens in schools is not visible to the wider community, and we want to change that. We hope these videos provide a window into the amazing work of our staff and students.

Our first Fremont Feature is focused on our Strategic Objective: Launch a highly effective, job-embedded professional learning system inclusive of Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and instructional coaching. We modified our school calendar to afford weekly professional collaboration time. We want you to know this time is impactful and helps us better meet the needs of our students.

October 16-20 is National School Bus Safety Week. This Fremont Feature video on school bus safety aligns with our Strategic Objective: Implement high-quality, consistent social-emotional health, wellness, and safety practices for adults and students. It also serves as a resource for our Fremont Parent University.

FSD79 is a recipient of this year’s Illinois State Teacher Vacancy Grant. The District has allocated a portion of the award toward a new licensure pathway program, via a partnership with BloomBoard. BloomBoard works with higher education institutions to offer residency-like degree and certification programs that develop educators’ skills and advance their careers through a unique on-the-job learning model.

This edition of the Fremont Feature video series focuses on our new K-5 math curriculum resource, Illustrative Mathematics. Watch the video below to learn more about how this resource is leading to increased problem-solving, communication, and collaboration for our math students.

This episode of the Fremont Feature takes a look at some of the social emotional health and wellness offerings that Fremont School District 79 has available to its students and families.
