AI Guidelines

In the spring of 2026, Fremont School District 79 formed an AI think tank, composed of representatives from our staff, students, parents, and School Board, to develop the District’s initial FSD79 AI Guidelines. We invite you to review these guidelines to see how the District is prioritizing student safety and critical thinking.

These guidelines align with the FSD79 Strategic Plan Vision of “empowering the next generation of resilient lifelong learners, responsible citizens and courageous leaders.” We want to ensure our students are equipped to navigate their future (and present) as responsible digital citizens in an AI-integrated environment. Our focus is on ensuring a “human-in-the-loop” approach is maintained when using AI as a partner in learning.

We understand that families have varying levels of comfort with artificial intelligence. These guidelines emphasize safety and academic integrity, while empowering staff and students to apply critical thinking, using AI as a springboard—not a replacement—for creativity and problem-solving. While our youngest students (grades PK-2) will have little to no AI exposure, we do want to provide learning experiences in the older grades that allow our students to be safe, ethical, and appropriate users of AI.

These guidelines will be reviewed annually to adapt to the evolving technological landscape.
