Thank you for your interest in Fremont School District 79. It is an honor to serve as the Superintendent of Schools, and I look forward to working alongside our students, staff, and community to ensure every child benefits from an exemplary education.
Serving a diverse population of approximately 2,300 students (pre-K through eighth grade), FSD79 consists of four schools, including an early childhood center, an elementary school, an intermediate school, and a middle school. We serve students from a 34 square mile area from the communities of Grayslake, Hawthorn Woods, Libertyville, Long Grove, Mundelein, Round Lake, and Wauconda.
Our District is recognized as a high-performing district for its commitment to personalized learning, quality educators, financial stewardship, and modernized facilities. Together, we will continue the successful journey and take our schools to the next level to reach our vision of “preparing today’s child for tomorrow’s world.”
In my first year in this role, I am eager to spend time in the schools and broader community listening, learning, and connecting with you. Seeing the schools “in action” and hearing directly from our educators and students is the top item on my list. Engaging with parents and our community partners, such as our area high schools and municipalities, also are priorities. Ultimately, the more connected we are within both the Fremont and broader communities, the more our students benefit from our collective work.
I am pleased to share my Entry Plan, which clearly and transparently communicates my approach for connecting with the Fremont community to develop relationships and identify our goals. The work of the Entry Plan will inform decisions, help shape the next Strategic Plan, and build a strong foundation from which to lead. You can access the Entry Plan via this link.
We promote parent and family involvement, so please know you are encouraged to get involved. We have a phenomenal Fremont PTO that actively supports our students and staff. Communication is a district priority, so please follow our social media channels, which include Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We also send out district newsletters which can be accessed here.
Thank you for your shared partnership in your child’s education. We have tremendous pride in our Fremont schools and our community connections. Please feel free to contact me at tkocanda@fsd79.org if I can be of any assistance.
Sincerely,
Trisha Kocanda
