The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) has awarded Fremont School District 79 its Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence in budget presentation during the 2016–2017 budget year. This is the fifth consecutive year Fremont has received the award.
The MBA promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation and enhances school business officials' skills in developing, analyzing, and presenting a school system budget. After a rigorous review by professional auditors, the award is conferred only on school districts that have met or exceeded the program’s stringent criteria.
“The Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) provides strict peer review, ensuring that the annual district budget development process adheres to the highest industry standards of financial reporting, strategic vision integration, and direct alignment of resources and mission. With 93 percent of annual revenues generated from local tax dollars, the MBA provides the Fremont community with assurance that its financial resources are wisely invested,” Director of Finance Mike Tanner said.
