Fremont Students Continue to Earn High Marks
Fremont School District 79
Fremont School District 79 students continue to excel as their academic marks approach pre-pandemic standards. On the latest State assessment, student performance exceeded FSD79’s pre-pandemic benchmark in English Language Arts (ELA), and their performance is approaching the District’s pre-pandemic benchmark for Math.

Most recently, 8th graders at Fremont Middle School performed at the 87th percentile nationally for Math and the 82nd percentile nationally for Reading on the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP).

Additionally, the Fall 2024 student assessment demonstrated that all eight of Fremont’s grades met or exceeded their growth projections in math, while seven of the eight grades met or exceeded their growth projections in reading.

"We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements and the resilience they have shown in their academic journey," said Dr. Trisha Kocanda, Fremont School District 79 Superintendent of Schools. "These results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff. We would also like to thank our dedicated Board of Education for providing the resources necessary to help our students achieve at the highest levels.”

FSD79 educates approximately 2,100 students in preschool through eighth grade and serves students from a thirty-four square mile area from the communities of Grayslake, Hawthorn Woods, Libertyville, Long Grove, Mundelein, Round Lake, and Wauconda. FSD79 students feed into Mundelein High School, Stevenson High School, and Grayslake Central High School.
