FSD79 Recognized With Meritorious Budget Award
Fremont School District 79 has been recognized for excellence in budget presentation with the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the 2024-2025 fiscal year as presented by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO). This is the 15th consecutive year that FSD79 has received the award.
This national recognition celebrates the district’s commitment to clear, transparent, and high-quality budget presentation, reinforcing its dedication to responsible financial stewardship.
Designed to help school business professionals enhance their financial planning skills, ASBO International’s Meritorious Budget Award program ensures that district budgets are not only comprehensive but also accessible and informative for stakeholders.
“Fremont School District 79 is honored to once again be named a recipient of the Meritorious Budget Award,” said FSD79 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Trisha Kocanda. “As a District, we remain dedicated to our long-standing commitment to implementing high-quality standards for fiscal practices. By establishing a Financial & Facility Stewardship strategic goal area, we persist in reaching our goals in a financially responsible manner. This award is a well-deserved representation of the hard work and commitment of our Business Office.”
To achieve this distinction, school districts submit their budget documents for a rigorous peer review process conducted by experienced school finance professionals. Each submission is carefully evaluated against ASBO International’s MBA Criteria Checklist, and districts receive valuable feedback to refine and strengthen their budget presentations.
School districts that meet the program’s high standards receive the Meritorious Budget Award distinction, showcasing their leadership in financial transparency and best practices.
