Singing about Caring
Emmy Award winner daytime talk show, Windy City LIVE, chose to record a segment on kindness with singer and songwriter Stu Jacobson at Fremont Intermediate School.
The school is a perfect setting for Mr. Jacobson’s motivational show called, Be Kind, Be Positive, and Read!
Kindness has been a theme carried out at Fremont Intermediate School this year beginning with students reading the book, Wonder, by R. J. Palacio. In fourth grade, students filled a bulletin board with acts of kindness they perform on a daily basis. Another teacher developed stations where children could experience what it might be like to have daily challenges or disabilities. A third-grade class wrote letters to the homeless, while another class is making Valentine’s Day cards for children in a hospital.
The Stu Show is just one more way the school is spreading the message of kindness. The Stu Show – Be Kind, Be Positive, and Read – is a motivational interactive, engaging, message-themed performance of original, fun sing-a-longs.
Fremont Intermediate School educates approximately 760 students in grades three through five. Fremont School District 79 serves students from a thirty-four square mile area from the communities of Mundelein, Wauconda, Hawthorn Woods, Grayslake, Round Lake, Long Grove, and Libertyville. FSD79 students feed into Mundelein High School, Stevenson High School, and Grayslake High School.
Every week, Windy City LIVE features an individual or organization doing positive work and giving back to the community, said producer Justyna Syska. “Stu Jacobson was chosen to be one of our ‘4 Star Chicagoans’ for the work he does while visiting schools and teaching kids about kindness,” she said. Stu’s segment will air on Windy City LIVE Friday, February 16 at 1 p.m. on ABC 7.
