Shop with a Teacher

Fremont Intermediate School students added about 1,000 items to the Fremont Township Food Pantry thanks to the commitment of their parents for taking them to Target to shop with their teachers.

“This is a great opportunity for our students, teachers, and families to come together and share in giving back to our community.  We wanted to find a creative way to provide resources for the Fremont Food Pantry and we thought that students shopping with teachers for food pantry items would make for an exciting and impactful experience,” said Dr. Jennifer Haack, associate principal.

Jello, pudding, pasta, and toothpaste were just some of the supplies the township always appreciates, said Nancy Lech, township caseworker.

The food pantry offers non-perishable food products to about 80 township residents a month who are experiencing financial difficulty or who live on a fixed income.  Supplies are very much appreciated by the township now through August.

"When residents utilize the food pantry, they can use the money that would have been spent on these same groceries to help pay a utility bill, rent, or refill a prescription," Mrs. Lech explained.
