MUNDELEIN, Ill. -- Fifth grade physical education students under the direction of teachers Corey Sciutto and Cindy Jeffries devised their own jump rope routines and then performed them in front of the rest of the class.
The students formed groups and then devised a routine that lasted between 30 and 60 seconds. The routine incorporated at least three non-jumping skills and at least five jumping skills, at least one formation change and a beginning and ending pose.
To demonstrate their planning, the students also completed a form that outlined the routine, including combination jumps, partner/group jumps and the use of long ropes.
The project is leading up to the Fremont Intermediate School's involvement in the Kids Heart Challenge (formerly Jump Rope For Heart) coming up in February.
