The Dart Foundation awarded a $25,000 grant to Fremont School District 79 to use toward the construction of a STEM Makerspace at its intermediate school.
A Makerspace is an area designed to let students create and explore using a number of different tools and supplies. Students participate in many hands-on activities including STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities. While they are engaging in activities that promote design thinking, students are able to express their creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. Fremont Elementary School was the first school to offer students a Makerspace.
