FSD79 Schools Closed Sept. 10, Classes to Resume Wednesday
Sept. 10, 2019
Due to the loss of power, which also resulted in loss of running water, FSD79 is currently operating under a delay. We will continue to work with ComEd to restore power with the plan of having a two-hour late start. If ComEd is not able to restore power, we will need to close schools today. We will continue to keep parents updated.
Lincoln School remains open and bus routes are still running.
UPDATE: 8:30 a.m. - Fremont Elementary, Intermediate, and Middle Schools will be closed today. ComEd has communicated that they believe the power outage was caused by a lightning strike. More information will be forthcoming regarding makeup day information.
UPDATE: 11:00 a.m. - We are anticipating that the makeup day for today (September 10, 2019) will be an eLearning day on March 2, 2020 (Casimir Pulaski Day). We are awaiting final approval from the Illinois State Board of Education. Once we have final approval, we will provide additional information, including the specific procedures regarding an eLearning day. Thank you for your patience during this process.
UPDATE: 5 p.m. - Power has been restored at Fremont School District 79 schools and classes will resume Wednesday, September 11, 2019.
