Transition to Hybrid Instruction

December 15, 2020

On December 14, the Fremont School District 79 Board of Education authorized the District to transition to hybrid instruction through a phased-in approach via the steps outlined below.

ACCESS Testing

English Language Learner students will return to school buildings to participate in the annual ACCESS testing, which is mandated by both state and federal authorities and is required to be conducted in person. This testing will begin Tuesday, January 19. More information will be forthcoming to those parents from building principals regarding scheduling and transportation.

Hybrid Instruction for Students in Self-Contained Special Education Classrooms

The transition to hybrid instruction for all District students in self-contained special education classrooms will begin on Tuesday, January 19. More information will be forthcoming to those parents from building principals regarding scheduling and transportation. Parents can still elect to have their student(s) continue with eLearning instead.

Hybrid Instruction for All Hybrid Students

The transition to hybrid instruction for all students who have registered for hybrid instruction will begin on Monday, February 1. More information will be forthcoming to those parents from building principals regarding scheduling and transportation. Parents can still elect to have their student(s) continue with eLearning instead.

As a reminder, parents registered their student(s) for either the hybrid or eLearning instructional model in October. The District has utilized this information for purposes of scheduling students for either the hybrid or eLearning instructional model.

Friday, January 22 has been designated as a staff planning day. There will be no student attendance (no synchronous or asynchronous instruction) on this date in order to allow teachers to focus their time on this transition to hybrid instruction. This will not result in an additional school day at the end of the school year.

All families are encouraged to review the FSD79 Return to School Plan, which can be accessed by clicking here, as well as the Hybrid Safety Overview slidedeck, which can be accessed by clicking here.

Thank you for your ongoing support and patience as we navigate through these unique times. Again, more specific information is forthcoming very soon from building principals. After that information is communicated, please contact your student’s building principal with any questions.
